What was the purpose of this trip?
We came to London to broaden our knowledge of the differences and similarities between the English and American criminal justice systems.
Have we learned anything?
Yes we have! In this blog we will tell you about what we learned, answer some questions we had before the trip, tell you about some new words we learned, show some fun foods we have tried, and more .

Hi, I am a graduate student at Weber State University in the Masters of Criminal Justice Program. I enrolled for this trip to learn more about the origins of the U.S. legal system and the English criminal justice system. Currently, I work as a prosecutor for the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office. |
Marissa Siegrist
Hey y'all! My name is Marissa and I am a graduate student at WSU in the Masters of Criminal Justice program. I came on this trip because it seemed like a great opportunity to not only knock out my last class in the program, but also because who wouldn't want to study criminal justice in London? |
Kimberly Burke
Hi, I just started my journey through college. I am interested in being either a CSI or police officer. I have always wanted to visit London and this class provided the perfect opportunity to do so. |
Zachary Jolley
My name is Zac Jolley and I am a former graduate of Weber State University in the Criminal Justice field. I have always been fascinated in the history of the police departments in England so this trip had my interest from the beginning. Plus Europe is famously known for their futbol games as this was another big interest of mine. |
Rorty Mower
My name is Rorty Mower and I am a Sociology/Criminal Justice Major at Weber State University. I have always wanted to do a study abroad and have never left the country so when the opportunity to do one for Criminal Justice in London I knew that I had to go. This is one of my final Criminal Justice credits before I graduate and one of my favorite classes that I have taken. |
Conclusion
In the end, we have learned about the notable differences and similarities between the US systems and the systems of England and Wales. The knowledge we gained from this trip helped us see how other countries function while gathering ideas that could potentially help us improve the way our criminal justice system works.
Special Thanks! |
Thanks to all our guides, Dr Williams, and Dr Reyns. Without them this trip would not have been as amazing as it was!
